Coordinator of the Graduate School "Health Policy and Systems in Uncertainties"
The School of Public Health is looking for a coordinator for the Graduate School "Health Policy and Systems in Uncertainties" with 100 % of standard working hours. The School of Public Health is establishing a new graduate school as part of the university-wide Excellence Initiative "Modes of Navigating Uncertainties - Preparing Societies for the Future". The graduate school is to deal with uncertainties from a theoretical as well as methodological perspective in the field of health policy and health systems. These fields are constantly and increasingly confronted with situations characterised by considerable uncertainties. Uncertainties are situations defined by a lack of knowledge in the sense of cause-effect relationships and probabilities and/or by affective-cognitive components of uncertainty. The graduate school aims to apply an interdisciplinary perspective to the design of health policy and the study of health systems under such uncertainty in order to better understand its consequences for health systems’ resilience and capacity to act as well as ultimately for population health. Using the example of current crises, an international/European perspective will be used to investigate how health systems use or (re)produce uncertainties and how their capacity to act under conditions of uncertainty can be improved.
