The team of currently nine members of staff in the working area of media sociology deals with the empirical analysis of media-related empirical analysis of media-related transformation processes of culture and society, their methodological reflection, as well as the empirically based theory formation for the description of techno-sociality(ies) and media culture(s) in world society.
teaching tasks (approx. 50 %)
- teaching in the field of media sociology (8 teaching hrs/wk during the tenure-track phase, then 12 hrs/wk), including conducting related examinations and supervising theses
teaching related tasks (10 %)
- coordinating teaching plans for the working group
- contributing to the field of e-learning and and innovative teaching methods
research tasks (approx. 15 %)
- conducting research within the working group’s focus areas
- participating in the initiation and implementation of (third-party funded) projects, as well as in other activities of the department, such as Conferences and workshops
- publications and presentations at scientific conferences
independent tasks (20%)
- teaching and research to develop and advance the position holder’s own professional profile.
- application, coordination, and implementation of projects in the field of e-learning/innovative teaching methods in media sociology
other tasks (5%)
- participation in the development and evaluation of teaching offerings.
- participation in academic self-administration and commitee work of the faculty, as well as in all other activity areas of the working group
The employment is conducive to scientific qualification.
During the Tenure-Track Phase, the following evaluation criteria should be met:
- ability to conduct independent teaching
- ability to independently develop and apply innovative media sociological teaching methods
The position is explicitly aimed at scientists in the early phase after their doctorate (first to fourth year after doctorate). Corresponding applications are expressly desired.
- relevant scientific university degree (e. g. Master or diploma)
- completed relevant doctorate
- profound knowledge in the field of media sociology
- profound knowledge in the field of qualitative social science research methods and media theories
- profound knowledge in the field of e-learning
- teaching experience
- didactic skills (demonstrated, for example, through teaching concepts, teaching evaluations, and/or training certificates)
- ability to offer courses in both German and English
- Gender- and Diversitycompetence
- independent, self-reliant and dedicated style of work
- strong organizational and coordination skills
- cooperative and team-oriented way of working
- interest in the development of innovative teaching methods, e.g. in the area of mobile learning
- knowledge of a third language (e. g. Spanish, Turkish, Arabic)
- salary according to Remuneration level 13 TV-L
