We have an open position for a PhD candidate within the Statistics and Data Analysis Group in the Department of Business Administration and Economics at Bielefeld University. The Statistics and Data Analysis Group primarily works on the development of inferential methods for stochastic processes that are driven by latent state processes (e. g. state-space models, hidden Markov models, Markov-switching regression or doubly stochastic point processes). Areas of application of corresponding models include biology, economics and medicine. Within this PhD project, the focus will lie on statistical inference on the response of such stochastic processes to external drivers.
- research in Statistics and Data Analysis, in particular method development for latent-state time series models (65 %)
- teaching duties, for example practical sessions for the lectures on statistical methodology, amounting to up to 2.6 LVS, assistance in the supervision of theses (25 %)
- administrative duties and/or participation in committees (10 %)
The position is co-financed through a department programme that aims at strengthening the Bielefeld Graduate School of Economics and Management (BiGSEM). Therefore, the active participation in the doctoral programme of BiGSEM (Data Science profile) is mandatory; for more information about BiGSEM see
