The
Visual AI for Extended Reality group led by Prof. Helge Rhodin develops methods to reconstruct digital avatars from videos of people for scientific and virtual reality applications, e.g. [1]. These systems include several processing stages in Python, C++, and CUDA and dedicated hardware, such as a motion capture studio and a VR room.
Your tasks include: Improving the existing software pipeline written in Python, C++, and CUDA including video processing and machine learning on large GPU clusters. Maintaining the hardware, such that the system is easy to use for research in medicine, psychology, and life sciences at Bielefeld University and by international collaborators, such as the University of British Columbia. This includes in particular
- maintaining existing software modules and integrating new ones together with master and PhD students (35 %)
- maintaining the existing hardware and working together with the technical administrators to order and install new components (20 %)
- helping collaborators use the motion capture and VR facilities (20 %)
- advising other group members on software engineering aspects (10 %)
