The working group Phonetics has a vacancy for a PostDoc position within the DFG-funded project "Laughter in Conversation: Form, Function and Multimodality" is available. The research builds on the work of a previous project and focuses on the study of laughter in spontaneous conversations, with a focus on the acoustic, articulatory and multimodal realisation, the frequency of occurrence of certain types of laughter in conversations and the interplay between smiles and laughter.
Research tasks (100 %):
Experimental research on the topic of laughter in conversation. This includes articulographic and acoustic recordings and analyses of spontaneous dialogues, publications and presentation of research results as well as relevant project-related administrative tasks.
The employment is conducive to scientific qualification.

Your Profile
We expect
completed relevant academic university degree (e. g. Master's degree) in phonetics, linguistics or a related subject
completed doctorate/Phd studies (at the time of recruitment) in phonetics or a related subject (with a recognisable focus on phonetics)
expertise in current statistical analysis methods (e. g. mixed models, machine learning)
a strong interest in articulography and analysing conversational data
international publication experience
very good command of English (oral, written)
independent, autonomous and committed way of working
strong organisational and coordination skills
cooperative and team-orientated working style
strong presentation skills
Preferred experience and skills
basic knowledge of the German language or the willingness to acquire it
experience with electromagnetic articulography
experience with analysing spontaneous speech data
experience with the creation of phonetic corpora
